Interview with Dynamo Moscow captain Pavel Pankov for the Match TV website.
— How would you rate the team’s performance at the tournament?
- Excellent performance, won five out of five matches. There were difficulties at the beginning, but that was because we were getting used to it.
— Was there any pressure during the games? After all, it was the first international tournament in three years.
— There wasn’t much pressure. We were getting used to the hall, to the balls, because there was little time.
— How did the local fans treat you?
- Excellent. There were a lot of Russians, a lot of people rooting for Dynamo. It gave us energy and extra strength. There were a lot of our fans in the final.
— Has the level of volleyball in Europe changed much since the Russians were suspended?
- Not particularly. The same tenacious French, the same fast and interesting Italians.
— You were recognized as the best setter of the tournament. Did you expect to receive this award?
— You always want more and better. I won’t stop there. I’m going to improve further.
— How would you assess the chances of Russian volleyball returning to the international arena?
"I don't know, I won't make any predictions. I know one thing: we are ready. As soon as possible. As soon as they let us in, we will immediately fight for the first places," Pankov told Match TV.
